VMWare 3.1: Solid upgrade to an already solid package
Linux Orbit looks at VMWare 3.1, "First, VMWare Workstation is darn expensive. At $299 US for the electronic download version and 329 for the CD and documentation, the average Linux user probably won't be buying it in the near future. Granted, this is probably not the market the product is aimed at. My second problem is minor compared to the price. When will VMWare Workstation support 3D graphics for guest operating systems? If I spent this much money for the software, I shouldn't have to buy something else to run my Windows games. Currently, VMWare Workstation 3.1 doesn't support Direct X or other Windows 3D gaming technologies in a virtual machine."

AbiWord 1.0.1 released
Strange things occuring at AbiWord's site lately. No mention of the biggest release they'll ever make, AbiWord 1.0. Which I waited for before mentioning. Which means I didn't mention it. And now a delay in providing the 1.0.1 release notes, still not released, but at least now there's a changelog. Interesting improvements are the start of a StarOffice importer, and a format painter.
