----[ CALDERA OPENLINUX 2.2 RELEASED Those of you who use Caldera OpenLinux will be pleased to hear that 2.2 was released this week. Caldera 2.2 is the first distribution to come with the 2.2 kernel. You will also be pleased to hear that critics from all over are giving high praise to Caldera for this new release.
----[ ARE RED HAT BEGINNING TO ANNOY PEOPLE? Perhaps it's just my over-active imagination, but there seems to be a lot of negative things being said about Red Hat. They're are many claiming that Red Hat 6.0 - due for release on May 10th - will be nothing special (in comparison to other distributions) and over-priced. These are not my opinions, but the opinions of others.
----[ QUOTE OF THE WEEK www.pcworld.com came out with a good quote this week, which pretty much sums up the general opinion at the moment:"If you're glued to the latest accelerated 3D games, love to watch DVD movies on your PC, rely on a USB scanner, or can't avoid using Microsoft Word's revision marks feature, you'll need to keep a copy of Windows 98 around. But that doesn't mean you can't have a little Linux on the side. If the revolution is coming, it won't hurt to be prepared." ----[ THE CRITICS LOVE GNOME LinuxPower.org has published a review of GNOME 1.0. in which they say: "...the entire system shows such amazing amounts of potential, I am dumb-struck. Every application has a similar look and feel (although there are enough differences from app to app to confuse some newcomers, I expect) and that look and feel is considerably more modern than Motif." All in all I've found this to be the general opinion of this fantastic project. ----[ QUICK COREL LINUX UPDATE For Corel's, still-to-be-released Linux they have decided to base it on KDE and Debian Linux. ----[ LATEST RELEASES Latest Kernel Latest Distributions ----[ A FINAL WORD That's all for this week. Thank you for subscribing and I'll see you again next week. Bye for now.
